Mr Benjamin Lindsey is a highly skilled consultant general, vascular and renal transplant surgeon based in London who specialises in vascular and general surgery as well as kidney transplantation. Common conditions that he sees include varicose veins and hernias as well as patients with leg pain and leg swelling as complications of diabetes. Alongside his NHS work at The Royal London Hospital, Mr Lindsey currently sees patients at London Bridge Hospital, The Lister Hospital and The London Clinic.
Mr Lindsey qualified from the University of London in 1993 and completed his vascular training in London and southwest England. He then relocated to South Africa, where he undertook a fellowship in trauma and transplant surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. He practised as a single-handed general surgeon at Eerste River Hospital in Stellenbosch. Upon his return to the UK, Mr Lindsey was awarded a prestigious post CCT fellowship in laparoscopic donor nephrectomy at Guy’s and at Royal Free Hospital, before being appointed as the first dual NHS-accredited general vascular and renal transplant surgeon in London at Royal Free Hospital.
Further to his high-quality surgical practice, Mr Lindsey has extensive experience in academic and clinical research. He has authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as four book chapters and is currently involved in research funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, to develop technology that benefits the quality of life of patients on dialysis. Mr Lindsey is also a dedicated teacher and regularly trains surgeons, both in the UK and abroad, in operative surgeries.
